Faculty Research

It is time to announce that the statement; " I am too busy to do research" becomes a thing of the past. Is a doctor, a doctor without research? If we ask those in the west, they will say no. "your PhD is there to help you start doing research that you will continue along the same path you followed in your studies".

Here, you are told that you are only credited for research that is outside your main field that you graduated in. Yes, it is a contradiction.

Step No 1:

For the first year every faculty member will receive a cash bonus of BD100 for a conference paper and BD150 for a journal paper that is published in a rank 1,2 or 3 journal or conference. Follow this, every faculty member is expected to publish at least one journal paper or two conference papers in ranks 1,2 or 3 journals or conferences.

Journal lists with ranks will be obtained from online sources of the best universities and then prepared as a basis for every specialization in our "mythical" university to set a form of control of which journals count towards promotions.

Step No 2:

Promotion requirements have to be reviewed in comparison with the requirements from similar type universities and community services will be represented also by lectures offered on campus.

Metrics will not depend on personal opinions, and will depend instead on the journal rankings as a basis for counting how many points each published paper earns in addition to scholar.google.com which will give the maximum number of citations for each of the published papers.

Step No 3:

Instructors are encouraged to share findings once accepted for publications with their peers including students through the regularly organized lectures.

If these findings influence the teaching approaches available to faculty then testing on a wider scale may be granted to instructors in preparation to allow new approaches in teaching to find their way to student lives.

If findings are in a field of science that is taught by instructors, then with appropriate persmissions, instructors may be granted the right to include it into the curriculum of the concerned course.

Step No 4:

A campaign will initiated for public awareness of scientific research conducted in the University through inviting relevant people to a specifically dedicated conference, or to relevant talks, etc.

Books, journals, news updates, and possible a gazette will be published to alert the public that research is going on, and what the fruits of it are especially the papers accepted into high ranking journals.

Prizes will be awarded to researchers for their contributions based upon a criteria set by a specifically designated committee. The criteria must be set prior to the announcement of the contest and not following the announcement as is sometimes the case.

The University will support publishing the findings in local newspapers and magazines if the outcome is of interest to the general public so if for example, the biology people find a new benefit of a food then that is published to alert the public of this finding.
