Student Affairs

This deanship is the most important and influential one to students in general because they can ignore deanships in which they have no courses, but this one, they cannot ignore.

Scholarships or Fee Waiver

This deanship is the only one authorized to get closer to student's lives outside the University by studying their economic level and assessing whether or not they qualify for a fee waiver. My opinion in this has been previously clarified and is simple, once a student qualifies for a scholarship, then all fees are waived for the full period of study.

Once a student is granted a scholarship, that student has the right to register any courses they wish so long as the courses lead to the required degree. Courses may also be dropped so long as they do not go below the minimum 12 credit per semester restriction.

In cases where a student has to go below 12 credits for reasons beyond their control, they can submit the request along with the reason to defer the scholarship for a period of one semester at most. If this request is granted the scholarship will be deferred for at most two different non consecutive times each for no more than one semester.

If a student goes on probation while on scholarship, that student is alerted in writing that the scholarship may be withdrawn if this student does not get off probation within the following semester and warned that any return to probation will deny that student of the scholarship.

Reduced Fees

Instead of fee waivers, our "mythical" university may implement the idea of reduced fees for students who do not qualify for scholarships. This way, reduced fees are also granted for the whole period of study and a larger body of students are supported by deducting 50% of their fees from the bills. This will imply that the number of full scholarships is reduced in favor of benefiting a larger body of students.

Student will submit for scholarships initially and this will automatically qualify them for the reduced fee group. Once they get the reduced fee, they will remain in that category for the full period of study.

The same rules that apply to scholarship termination, apply to reduced fee termination.

Credit for Participation

There is NO DECENT UNIVERSITY in the world that grants students an A grade for participation in activities supervised by this deanship. Consequently, any suggestion to start or maintain this type of thing will be denied from the start.

Student Societies

Students are encourage to start up societies, and to register them with the deanship, then run them on their own as long as these societies are not based on any ethnic distinctions or gender, and as long they help develop student personality and are educational.

Protests or sit-ins arranged by societies must require prior permission to ensure that the causes are not outside the University campus. If the causes of the protests are not related to the establishment itself, then the protest has to also be outside the educational establishment.

Societies may invite speakers from outside the University as long as these speakers do not attempt to impose ANY kind of divide between the different groups. The speakers must act professionally and realize that these are all our children.

Societies will NOT be encouraged to go to different companies to elicit contributions of any kind. They may, however, be allowed to sell tickets to their parents and relatives at most at BD 0.500 per ticket for plays and presentations. If tickets are sold then the CPR number of every person who the ticket is sold to will be reported and inserted into the accounts for general safety requirements.

Money elicited by the societies, will not go to serve the University. It will be supervised by the University as an independent account only to be used for the benefit of all student student activities and to buy extra equipment, etc as needed by the various societies.

Society Store

A dedicated store will be encouraged by the University to be started by a newly established society to sell all types of items with the University logo.

Items may include but are not restricted to, T-shirts, sweat shirts, cups, pens, all with the logo.

They may also include items that do not have the logo like note books of various sizes, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpener.

The profit made in this store, will not exceed 10% on the total cost incurred and this money will be added to the budget of the deanship that is spent on reduced fee and scholarship cases.

A reduced fee or a scholarship for one student will not be added, until the amount made from the store is sufficient to cover the reduced fee or the scholarship for the full period of a student's study.

Students will work in the store on a voluntary basis without pay with the hope of encouraging the youth to support each other.

The store books will be under the full supervision of the accountants of the University to ensure that proper book keeping is enforced.

Banners and campaign ads during the period of student elections will be placed in the store, or distributed with the purchases from the store in return for a fee paid by the student placing that ad. The return from the fees will also go to the same contribution fund of the store.

Store volunteers will get t-shirts to show that they volunteered for the store to help those in need.

Student Social Services

This department must be concerned with student problems with respect to education or their personal complaint window if they face any personal issues. The department has to employ professionals in psychology and psychiatry who are willing to help any student who requests help. No help will be imposed on students who do not show a willingness to be helped.
